We got in some beautiful and vibrant beaded bracelets this week made by a company called Mishky from Colombia.
The bracelets come in different widths and are easily adjustable to any size using a unique knotting system. Each bracelet is beaded or woven using class A quality glass beads giving them an eye-catching shine and uniform look when tightly strewn together. The color combinations and patterns are endless! Tita Navia and Martha Duran, the company’s founders, also started a program called “Mi mama para mi” which trains women in low income areas to become expert artisans in jewelry making allowing them to work from home, generate an income, and raise their children giving them the care and attention they need and deserve. As they say, “with every (1) hour of work from home, one (1) Mishky bracelet is produced and one or more kids enjoy more time with their own mother, learning, studying, and sharing love. What a wonderful program and community service! They also work with the Colombian government to help the native Putumayo tribe escape the illegal crop industry by offering them honorable and legal jobs making jewelry for MIshky as an alternative. Not only does Mishky make beautifully unique and affordable jewelry that we love, they are helping the planet and the people of Colombia one bracelet at a time. So, this Christmas give a gift that everyone will love and appreciate for many reasons! Give a Mishky bracelet from Collections in Makawao. Aloha!
